Biography

Werner Burri worked in the Bauhaus pottery workshop from 1922-25. From 1923 he worked there as a journeyman and then in the pottery of the Bauhochschule Weimar, Dornburg until 1927. He continued his work as a ceramist from 1928 to 1931 as successor of Theodor Bogler and head of the model and mold workshop at the earthenware factory in Velten-Vordamm. He then briefly returned to Switzerland and worked with the Geneva ceramist Marcel Noverraz. In Germany he kept in touch with Hedwig Bollhagen and contributed individual designs. Between 1941 and 1963 he taught at the ceramics college in Bern.
