Biography
Nanna (1923 - 2005 and Jørgen Ditzel (1921 - 1961), Copenhagen / London After studying furniture design at the Royal Art Academy (-1945), Nana Ditzel continued her education at the School of Applied Arts (-1946) in Copenhagen, where she met her future husband Jørgen Ditzel. They opened their joint design office in Copenhagen (1946). Inspired by natural forms, they designed furniture, fabrics, glass series and jewelry. They worked for A. Michelsen, Georg Jensen (jewellery), Wengler (furniture systems), Poul Kold, LCP, Unika Vaev and Halling Koch (furniture), among others. Innovative contribution to modern Danish design through her publication 'Danish Chair' (1954). Joint awards including silver medals at the Milan Triennale 1951, 1954, 1957, gold medal 1960, 'Good Design Award' from the Museum of Modern Art New York, Lunning Prize 1957.
