Biography

Klaus Grabe (1910 - 2004) In his workshop, Klaus Grabe made small editions of simple furniture, influenced by his studies at the Bauhaus and his private contacts with Josef and Anni Albers as well as Hannes and Lena Meyer, with whom he lived in exile in Mexico. He designed mostly easy-to-manufacture furniture. After moving to New York, he was, like the Eameses, one of the first designers to use laminated wood for furniture construction after the Second World War. His designs, unlike those of Eames, are not very complex and were made directly by his company, Klaus Grabe Inc.
