Biography
Jesse Magee's art is considered a metaphor for the constant change of everything that exists. After studying art at the New York State School of Ceramics, he continued his studies at the Institute for Artistic Ceramics and Glass at the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences in Höhr-Grenzhausen. His works, sculptures, installations or videos, are all the results of a processual development. His working method is characterised by a prolonged process of research, rethinking and trying things out. He has an affinity for natural materials such as earth, wood and glass and shapes, forms or destroys them to get to the bottom of their nature and usability. Through the same approach, he created his work 'Mutterboden Johannisberg', 2021, which is considered a homage to Johannisberg. As a natural resource, topsoil is considered by the artist to be the basis for human life and social development processes.
