Biography
In addition to his role as a gallerist, in which he presented the works of the most important international jewelry makers for more than ten years, Tasso Mattar himself is one of the most important jewelry artists of his time.
His work moves away from fixed conventions and surprises again and again with extraordinary designs. In the 1980s, Tasso Mattar worked with materials such as cattle bones, concrete and printed tinplate. By transforming them into jewelry, he succeeds in creating exceptional pieces from these ordinary materials. At the same time, he makes jewelry from high-quality precious metals such as fine gold and silver. The jewelry pieces are often made from several plates, which are joined together with the help of filigree gold bars. The resulting works bear witness to an unexpected lightness and timeless elegance.
