Biography
Trude Petri (1906 - 1989), Berlin Trude Petri studied at the Vereinigte Staatsschulen für freie und angewandte Kunst, Berlin; at the same time she completed an apprenticeship at the Staatl. Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin, where she was employed from 1925-33. She then continued to design for KPM Berlin as a freelancer. In 1950 she moved to Chicago. Her work is strongly influenced by the Bauhaus and the Deutscher Werkbund in its austerity and clarity. In 1937, her 'Urbino' service received the gold medal at the Paris 'Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne'. In 1954 she received a medal from the Triennale in Milan.
