Radio Nurse
Designed in 1937. Made by Zenith Radio Corporation. Reddish Bakelite. 21 x 16 x 16 cm. Inscribed on the back. The 'Radio Nurse' was Noguchi's first major industrial commission. The Bakelite material gave him the opportunity to create an organic, sculptural form with the abstracted shape of a human head. Together with the 'Guardian Ear' receiver it functioned as a baby monitor.
