Emu egg crowned by a fully sculpted bird figure. Wooden base with silver terrain plinth and Aboriginal, hunted kangaroo and emu. Crossed antlers or branches serve as pen holders. 22 x 20 x 16 cm. Marked: JM Wendt, Adelaide, lion and crown mark. The silversmith Joachim Matthias Wendt was born in 1830 in Schleswig-Holstein, which was then part of Denmark. In the middle of the 19th century he opened a shop in Adelaide, Australia.
