Stainless steel on a stone base. H. 17 cm. Signed, dated, and dedicatory on the base: Rickey 1994 for Ida. George Rickey (1907–2002) was an American sculptor and an important representative of Kinetic Art. He studied history in Oxford (1926–1929) and art in Paris. In 1987, he became a member of the Berlin Academy of Arts. Rickey's works can be found in Frankfurt, Bonn, and on the terrace of the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin, among other places. Pivoted Fold (1994) is a kinetic sculpture made of stainless steel with a stone base, signed and dated. It was given to Ida Sanders and was part of an exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam in 2012.
