Figure of Buddha Shakyamuni
Alabaster. Standing on a hemispherical lotus pedestal, the right hand placed on the chest, the left hanging down, with the robe covering the left shoulder (uttarasangha) spread out. The tight-fitting robe with a centre pleat emphasises the waist. The head and ushnisha are covered with small curls, with an additional flame ornament above the ushnisha. The figure with remnants of a red lacquer finish and traces of gilding. H. 85 cm. Mounted on a modern black wooden base.
