Yves Klein* (1928 - 1962)
'Monochrome and Fire (1961)' Golden Multiple
Two silkscreens on cardboard and one cardboard covered with gold leaf. Each 32 x 23.5 cm. Enclosed is the catalog "Museum Haus Lange Krefeld Yves Klein Monochrome und Feuer 14 Jan - 26 Feb, 1961." One work framed behind glass. Yves Klein's triptych "Monochrome and Fire" was created in 1961 for the exhibition of the same name at the Museum Haus Lange, Krefeld – the only retrospective during Klein's lifetime. It featured architectural drawings, an "immaterial space," and his signature monochrome works in blue, pink, and gold. Klein's trademark was the blue pigment; he later added gold – inspired by his artist's book and the performance "Zone de Sensibilité Picturale Immatérielle" (1959–62). The work consists of two silkscreens (blue, pink) and a cardboard covered with gold leaf, forming a triptych.
