Kendi. Kangxi Periode (1654-1722). Porzellan, kobaltblaue Glasur (powder blue), Goldmalerei, Silbermontierung. Gebauchter Korpus mit langem, zum oberen Rand ausschwingenden Hals. Am Hals Bemalung mit langen lanzettförmigen Blättern. Auf dem Bauch und am Mündungsrand florale Goldmalerei. Silberdeckel mit getriebenen Reliefdekor aus Ranken und geometrischen Bändern, Montierung am Ausguss mit geometrischem Dekor. H. 27,5 cm. Ein Kendi ist ein Wassergefäß mit zumeist zwei Öffnungen, welches in Asien und auch im orientalischen Raum sowohl für sakrale als auch für profane Zwecke in Gebrauch war. Bei dem vorliegenden Stück handelt es sich um ein aufwendig dekoriertes Exemplar mit Goldmalerei und Silbermontierung, das in China vermutlich für den Export nach Europa oder in den Nahen Osten gefertigt wurde. Ein fast identisches Exemplar aus der ehemaligen Sammlung des Metropolitan Museum of Art New York wurde 2016 im Auktionshaus Christie's, London versteigert.

Kendi. Kangxi Period (1654-1722). Porcelain, cobalt blue glaze (powder blue), gold painting, silver mounting. Bulged body with a long neck that swings out towards the upper edge. The neck is painted with long lanceolate leaves. Floral gold painting on the belly and on the edge of the mouth. Silver lid with embossed relief decoration of tendrils and geometric bands, mounting on the spout with geometric decoration. H. 27.5 cm. A Kendi is a water vessel with usually two openings that was used in Asia and the Orient for both sacred and profane purposes. The present piece is an elaborately decorated example with gold painting and silver mounting, which was probably made in China for export to Europe or the Middle East. An almost identical example from the former collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art New York was auctioned at Christie's auction house, London in 2016.
